The Family History Society of Cheshire The Family History Society of Cheshire (FHSC) was founded in 1969 to advance the study of family history and genealogy, and now has around 3000 members worldwide. As well as helping people with ancestors in Cheshire, it also assists members living locally whose ancestors originated elsewhere. The Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and also the North West Group of Family History Societies. It is a registered charity (No. 515168). All officers and officials are unpaid volunteers, helping in their spare time.
The Federation of Family History Societies The Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) is an educational charity which exists to represent, advise and support its membership of family history societies and other genealogical organisations world-wide. Their principal aims are: to co-ordinate and assist the work of societies or other bodies interested in family history, genealogy and heraldry; to foster mutual co-operation and collaborative projects to help researches; and to represent the interests of their members, and family historians generally, especially in the preservation and availability of archival documents.
The North Cheshire Family History Society The North Cheshire Family History Society: The aim of the Society, which was founded in 1976, is to bring together those who are interested in the study of their family history, to give lectures about the availability of records and how to use them; to hold discussion meetings at which more experienced members can help beginners; to further genealogy and co-ordinate research and the transcription of records. 1901 Census - Institutions It includes only those institutions that were enumerated separately from ordinary households, not those small ones that were enumerated amongst the surrounding houses. If you have found someone in the 1901 Online Service but there is no place specified, the person may have been in one of these institutions. Identify the Piece and approximate Folio Number from the PageID, then see if there is a matching institution in the tables.
Old Bailey Online The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, 1674-1913 is a fully searchable edition of the largest body of texts detailing the lives of non-elite people ever published, containing 197,745 criminal trials held at London's central criminal court. Access To Archives A2A is part of the UK archives network. The A2A database contains catalogues describing archives held locally in England and Wales and dating from the eighth century to the present day.

Obituaries The Obituary Daily Times is a daily index of published obituaries. It is distributed FREELY, often twice a day by email, and usually has over 2500 entries a day. You can search the database anytime. The Obituary Daily Times mailing list is intended mostly (but not only) for Family Historians, researchers and compilers (ex. researching all of ONE FAMILY). The Obituary Daily Times is an index of published obituaries across the world. Regular contributors (volunteers) can request information about particular obituaries between themselves. WE DO NOT HAVE THE ACTUAL OBITUARIES. Regular volunteers may request a particular copy from each other. For others, GEN-OBIT is an easy way to find a publication date of an obit. You can then refer to the newspaper to get a copy of it (at the library or directly with the newspaper itself).

Free BMD The FreeBMD database is an electronic version of the index created by the GRO (General Records Office) which has been produced by the FreeBMD project using the efforts of thousands of volunteers who have given their time to provide you with access to this valuable resource of information. It is important to understand that the FreeBMD index is a transcription of the GRO index - it contains the same information (errors and omissions excepted) as the GRO index and is organised in the same way (e.g. by quarters). The FreeBMD project does not have access to any other information.
Cheshire Parish Registers The aim of the project is to make available, in a reasonable period of time, all the information in each of the parish registers of the ancient county of Cheshire. This aim covers information in both the original Parish Register (PR) and the Bishop's Transcript (BT), since despite its name the latter is to some extent an independent source. The period of transcription is from the earliest known entry in each PR and BT up to 1871.
