Hi Everyone,

I am looking for the bmd of William Heaps. I know that William had several children with his wife, Margaret. All were born in the Wrightington/ Shevington area during the early decades of the 19th century.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Frank

I think it might help if you were to narrow things down since "the early decades of the 19th century." could encompass many William Heaps, most of whom might have our helpers running along incorrect alleys.

The best thing you could do is to give full details for us at least one of the censuses you have them on, including references and if you have the birth certificate from one of the children then that will give the surname for Margaret so that we can search for the marriage.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for your advice. All I know about William and Margaret is that between 1800 and 1814 they had seven children. All were born in Wrightington and were baptized in the Parish Church of St Winifrid's Standish The children were: Ann 1800, Richard 1802, Elizabeth 1804, James 1806, Margaret 1809, William 1812 and Edmund 1814.

There are two deaths recorded for a Margaret Heaps aged 35 and 5 year old William in 1816. Given that she was pregnant for the best part of 14 years, if it is her, it is a little wonder that she died prematurely.

I hope this helps,

Frank

PS: I looked for William on the 1841 census without success

Hi Susan,

Many thanks for your help in finding out a bit more about the paternal side of the maternal side of my family. Does that make sense!!

Anyway, I notice that you have Cullen's in your family. I know its a long shot but do you have any links to an Eliza Jane Cullen, who was born in Luton Beds in 1857 She is/was my paternal ggm

Once aging, many thanks,
Frank

Have a look at www.lan-opc.org.uk I think you may find it helpful. It has a lot of transcribed parish registers on it.

I also think you'd find www.familysearch.org useful

Both are free sites to use
