Re: Catholic Burials - Ashton in Makerfield

Hi there, Did you have any luck with burial details? Are you local to Ashton? If the family were buried, as oppose to cremated, and were Catholic and living in Ashton I think they would almost certainly be in St Oswald's Church cemetery. I am no longer local but have many relatives buried there. I w...

Re: I'm Proud

Hi Mary, Sorry to be a pain but my journal seems to have gone astray this month as well. Thought it must have been in the pile of stuff that arrived when we were away but have finally got round to checking and there was no sign. I'd be grateful if you would pass on to the appropriate person. Many Th...

Re: Disaster....lost Family Tree Maker

Glenys, So sorry to hear of your loss. Wondering if you have any cloud storage? If you are running windows 8 I think you should have. I have done lots of updating of my tree recently and was worried in case I lost anything before the other half could set up a proper backup system (now done :D ) so I...

Thanks Glenys. I had always assumed it was unofficial, but my sister thought it had been legalised. As I said earlier it doesn't actually matter as we know what happened to everyone, but I was just curious.

Thanks for that Glenys. So my interpretation is that my Dad was never legally adopted then (see above). Am I correct?

Hi Dickiesam, Was your last post a response to mine? If so, yes I have all the details. My grandfather died first then my grandmother died of breast cancer a couple of years later. I have all the certificates and although I didn't know the details Dad had always told us how his Mum died when he was ...

My Dad was orphaned at the age of 8 in 1933. He was "adopted" by his Father's sister and her husband. I've never known if the adoption was official or just an arrangement. When his "adopted" father (always known to us all, including Dad as Uncle Tom) died in 1967, Dad was named as the informant and ...

Pegasus,
Just sent you 2 more images for Peter Braun, one is the same day as Carl HERTZBERGER. Also has PUTTA Braun with him.
No sign of Dorothea or alternative on same arrival.
Let me know if you need more.
Chris
PS Sorry Col, we seem to have hijacked your post

Think I visited that site a couple of years ago, but couldn't find anything of use at the time and haven't been back since,
Will have another look.
Thanks

Col, Spookily interesting question 8) I spent last night trawling through Ancestry alien images to try and find some info on my mysterious German brick wall (Richard and Johannah Heuss). Only trouble is I have no idea when they arrived. They are on the 1891 census and their first born was in 1886 in...

Whew Dave, I think I need a lie down. :o Some of this sounds very familiar although I think WIlliam and Betty are new to me. Need to go back and check up my records. Will be back later (or more likely tomorrow).

Syl,
This is getting more spooky by the day
I assume you mean Peter born around 1817? I've found baptisms of 6 children from 1814 to 1832 on the IGI, but interestingly they don't come up on Lanc OPC (unless I'm missing something).

Thanks Sylvia. I won't trouble you for the Twist info at the moment as there's lots of more relevant stuff I should be concentrating on, but I expect at some point I might have some questions for you.

Hi (again!) Sylvia, This is spooky :o I read this message before Christmas, but was too busy to reply at the time. I've just picked up your message abot the Eden family and replied. I then came back to this post and realised they were both from the same person :) It looks like we might both have con...
