Re: George Naden and Jane Hooper
If Mary died in 1855 why might probate be 1857? I cannot find a likely fit on Freebmd which I use for GRO reference numbers. Maybe when I can access Ancestry we will turn up something -- P

Re: George Naden and Jane Hooper
Bert & Mary - Thanks both for your very speedy replies. Sometimes I wonder if you ever sleep!! We will hotfoot it to the library asap and follow up the links. I assume the 55 - 59 date range mean that she must have died between those dates and that suggests she is number 2 on your list. I think a de...

George Naden and Jane Hooper
Until our local library springs into full action again I am a little short of resources. Hopefully members may be able to help. George Naden married firstly Jane Hooper on 26 Dec 1821. They had 3 children, Sarah George and AN Other; his second wife was Maria Pedley whom he married in 1848 after the ...

Re: 24 Byrom St Liverpool
Difficulty logging in and the loss of three drafts due to computer failure have delayed the further post. The passage of time means I have forgotten what I was going to say but I can remember some bits. Mary - I have started email correspondence with Lpl museums and galleries Bert - gone are the thi...

24 Byrom St Liverpool
Hello all Rooting through old papers I have come across an extract from ' A Directory of English Pubs in the 1881 census'. The extract concerns a property 24 Byrom St and in view of the heading I presume it must have been a pub of some sort. Can anyone tell me please if it had a name and any more in...

Re: Old custom house looking south
Mary & Bert - The police report regarding access to the rear of the C & H can be clearly understood from the map sent by Bert so we now know exactly where the pub was. Thanks both. Peter

Re: Old custom house looking south
Hello Mary
Thanks for the offer. We have the Custom House looking North and Dockside at Liverpool 1886 in addition to the 'looking North. Would love to see anything else.
Any idea how I might find a picture of the Coach & Horses or at least find how substantial the place was?
Peter

Re: Old custom house looking south
retiringtype and bert - thanks for your notes; it is good to see that you are both still about and continuing to beaver away for us. The print of the custom house has been on the wall for some 25 years but it is only now that I have discovered that it shows the Compass and Anchor. I had always thoug...

Old custom house looking south
Having been in lockdown for ages I have been searching for ideas for a bit of research. The latest for study has been the Custom House. The subject noted above is the title of a painting by Atkinson Grimshaw and I think it is held in the Walker Art Gallery. We have just a small print and also have m...

Re: George Naden (Jnr) and Mrs Eliza Naden
Dear Mary, - thanks for your efforts with the search. The Elizabeth you have found is indeed our Eliza who was living with her daughter at the time of her death. I wish I could do as you suggest and get to the reference library which is no doubt full of information that would be useful to me but a 2...

Re: George Naden (Jnr) and Mrs Eliza Naden
Bert - I am well thanks but some bits are not working as well as they used to. I trust we find you in good spirits Thanks for the clarification re the census. So I cannot assume that in 1910 they were living apart but your electoral role note confirms, I think, that they were apart in 1920. If memor...

George Naden (Jnr) and Mrs Eliza Naden
Members have helped me before with this family and perhaps they could do so again. The facts I have are these - George Naden (Snr) died June Qtr 1905. Sophia Naden, his wife died Sept Qtr 1895. They are the parents of George (Jnr). The 1901 census for 16 Derby Place shows George (Jnr) and his wife E...

Re: Joseph robinson and bessie parkinson robinson (nee wilson)
Thanks Bert. With the finding of Sydney I think we can declare the matter now closed. Funny to think I would have walked regularly past Mr F's residence over 70 years ago. I doubt I would recognize the road now. Peter

Re: Joseph robinson and bessie parkinson robinson (nee wilson)
Bert - Why does every reply answer questions but at the same time raise more. Interesting to see Joseph Robinson moved into the Wilson household presumably after the marriage in 1919 and was still with them in 1934 but not at the time of the 1939 list when BPR declared herself to be Mrs Fernihough. ...
