Ripley Hospital Orphanage Lancaster
I have been onto Lancashire record office and they now have the records for Ripley hospital.Unfortunately they are not on line and to view them you have to go to the record office,I think it is in Preston.Ref.No for Ripley is SMLR/1 and you need a readers ticket before you go.
These records have only fairly recently arrived at Lancashire Record Office and as they have miles of records and cannot afford digitisation I am not at all surprised they are not on line. In fact very little from Record Offices is on line due to the cost of digitisation.
Lancashire Record Office is in Preston. They are part of the CARN system so if you have a CARN card you can use it there. If not you need to take identification with you such as photocard driving licence or bank statement, utility bill etc. The card is then made out for you at the desk on your way in.
If you cannot visit they will usually for a charge make a copy of the information you want or suggest researchers who can do it for you.
