I am looking for any information relating to my dad Harry Traynor (died April 2013) who worked at Dunlop's of Rice Lane, Liverpool in the 1940s after the war. He was a merchant seaman until about 1946. He married Agnes Murphy in 1945 and at that time they lived in the Anfield area.
Does anyone know how I can trace employee records or does anyone know of other people who worked there at that time?
Many thanks for your time and help.
Dunlop's in Rice Lane, 1940's
Re: Dunlop's in Rice Lane, 1940's
Hi Kevin, welcome to the forum.
Your subject heading interested me as I worked in Dunlops in the early 1970's, I don't suppose the place was much changed in the years in between.
I have no idea whether the employee records would have been deposited with the Liverpool Record Office, I suggest that you make an enquiry direct http://liverpool.gov.uk/libraries/archi ... y-history/ however, it might be that what used to be the Head Office in Birmingham may have archived the records, I'm assuming that the "Contact" form from this page http://www.dunlopfootwear.co.uk/ would go there and you could try them.
Good luck

Hello Mary and thanks for your input. The library doesn't have any Dunlop archives to help me. I will keep searching though.
Re: Dunlop's in Rice Lane, 1940's
I suspect it is a bit recent for them to have been lodged there. I would think your only recourse is to apply to the company itself.kevin1952 wrote: The library doesn't have any Dunlop archives to help me.
