Mariner: Andrew Anson born abt1787
Mariner: Andrew Anson born abt1787
"Andrew Hanson" married 1809 at Liverpool Mariners, to Martha Owens (1787-1860) but his signature is "Andre Hasan". I have just found a reference on the Merchant Navy Seaman Series 1841-1844. This entry says he was 52 years old and Born in Kingston. He died in 1842 in Liverpool as "Andrew Anson", and his family continued to use the name Anson. A subscription site list the country as West Indies, however the original only says Kingston. Where would I go to find out more information about him?

Hi and welcome to the forum. The documents referred to are held in the National Archives are held at Kew and you would also find the facilities at Greenwich useful.
We have posted some guidance information collected by one of our members who was successful in finding out a great deal about one of her own ancestors, hopefully you will find it useful.

The marriage was at St Peter's Church the parish church of Liverpool. These early records can be confusing the way they record the occupations. The words Liverpool and Mariner are not connected to each other. One is the parish the other is the occupation.

You have probably already sussed this out but I would assume that Kingston is the city and capital of Jamaica. Fits with the West Indies. It is quite likely the archives there could be of help. http://jard.gov.jm/A subscription site list the country as West Indies, however the original only says Kingston. Where would I go to find out more information about him?

Could possibly be Kingston, Surrey.

The licence for the marriage can be see on Find my Past.
I presume it is his son who marries in 1842 he also signs as Andre although the certificate is written as Andrew.
