R.V.2 No.

Post by sophia »

Can anyone out there help me.

I have been researching a family member in the Liverpool Crew Lists.
In 1904 on one of his discharge papers in the column with the heading No. of Reserve Commission or R.V.2 No.
It states alongside his name the No. R.N.R. 6534.

Is this his personal No. for the merchant navy or a sort of reserves? Any idea's how I can find out more information.

RNRstands for Royal Naval Reserve so I imagine it was his number for the reserves.

He may have Merchant Seamen papers which may be on Find my Past, he may have Royal Navy Seamen papers which may be on Ancestry or FMP And are on the National archives site and RNR papers maybe on the National Archives and if not there will be information there.
