Please help - looking Henry Martin

Post by Lnrxox »

Hi I am trying to find out any information on my paternal grandfather Henry Martin but have come to a dead end.
Details I do know is that he married my grandmother(maiden name Wright) between January-March 1957 in southport.
Basically he left shortly after my father was born & my father only found out about him late teens he was able to contact him when my brother was born but has had no contact since & that was over 30yrs ago! We do not know if he is alive & my father has no information on him either, I have searched ancestry but to no avail.
Additional info: he was a bus driver at the time of my fathers birth in 1958 if this helps?
Anything to help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. We have put together a few suggestions for searching for living people, as presumably you may be looking for descendants. http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... =14&t=8154

To ascertain his correct age, so that might help you with searching for any death entry, you should get his marriage certificate. You can do this online at www.gro.gov.uk using the following details
Marriages Mar 1957 MARTIN Henry WRIGHT Beryl Southport 10f 1456

The marriage took place at either St Philip or St Paul churches in Southport according to www.lncashirebmd.org.uk their registers are at Lancashire Record Office for 1957.

I have to say that Henry Martin in Southport rings a bell but I can't remember why! Hopefully it'll come back to me at sometime.

As many of us do, Hilary also peruses other forums, such as Rootschat, it may be that she has come across the name and place on one of these, I have tried a search of this forum but haven't been successful in finding another thread.
