Ford cemetery look up if possible

Post by Barbara B »

I've tried to trace this grave but with no luck. Christina Daly died 1929 and buried Ford Cemetery 25th November. The grave number is 1019 and her address is given as The Royal ? 17 Lytton St.
Any information gratefully received.
Thanks in advance

She has been transcribed by Ancestry as Daley so if you were searching correctly for Daly then that's why you couldn't find it.

Looks to me like The Royal Infirmary (of 17 Lytton Street - I suppose there should be a close bracket but it's missing.

The area is SD and the Grave Number is 1019. They just haven't written SD against each entry as it would be assumed to follow down the column.

As there are other entries on this and nearby pages for this same grave, it will be a public grave rather than a private one.

Map shows this area will be in the bottom right.

As the Royal Infirmary was not in Lytton Street I would suggest she died at the Royal Infirmary but her home address was Lytton Street.

It's a bit confusing that page the entry is SV 1019. Section SV is a public section. All entries on that page with just a number come under SV referenced at the top of the page. Section SD is a private section and the crossed out entry two rows up is an SD grave but the two entries below it are SV graves.

Thanks for the clarification Blue, still seems as though there won't be family members in the same grave, nor a headstone.

Many thanks for all the help and suggestions. I was hoping for more clues to Christina and her family but hey ho, as they say!
Thanks Tina for contacting your friend, who knows, something might come up. The Dallys have been a puzzle for quite a while. I thought it would be much easier, Christina is my great great aunt!
Once again, thanks for your input.

It's a communal grave Barb with 17 other people in it.
Lytton St would have been her home address.
Could 1939 index be of help?

Hi Tina and Bert
Thanks for the input. I have Christina's marriage and have also found her on the 1911. Family legend has it she went to Australia but I suspect they might be mistaken. I think 2 of her daughters went with my other 2xgreat aunt. This may ring a bell, Tina as I' ve been down this road before. I have a copy of the passenger list showing Margaret Tester en route to Australia in1929 and I found 2 Dalys when FMP had their 'free'weekend but no proof it's them. Margaret came back and lived to a ripe old age - I remember her well. It's just the Dalys who elude me. It really niggles!
