I can do free look ups for the surname Holland at Ford, Yew Tree or Ainsdale RC cemeteries. Just PM me on here. I got mine free so I'm happy to do the same for others.
These RC records were available free at the Liverpool Record Office so they should be available under the temporary arrangements.

Try ringing Sandra Malone (Catholic Cemetaries) on 522 1017. If you have the name and date of burial she may be able to help.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I would think that since you have the date the cemetery office themselves will be able to give you the details and once you have the reference you should be able to use this map to locate it.
If you are able to get to the World Museum in William Brown Street, you can do a look up by name in the indexes for free, cross checking with the grave reference to see who else is buried in the plot.

That depends on if you also know the cemetery.
The RC cemeteries of Ford, Yewtree and Ainsdale are very easily searched as there is a combined index and taking a note of which cemetery, together with the reference enables you to cross reference who is in the grave.
Unfortunately there is not a central index for C of E burials.

I don't know about the other areas but BZ and AD are marked together on the plan. I know that area is just grassed over and is a general section with no headstones.

There's a guide on the site Pegasus mentioned that tells you whether a section is "public" or "private":-
http://www.fordcemetery.co.uk/pdf/Ford_ ... _Usage.pdf
I have ancestors at BZ, AD, SJ and SV they are "public" sections and are just grassed areas. Section AS is a "private" section it has family plots so will consist of both gravestones and unmarked plots.
All the graves whether "public" or "private" still exist but the "private" graves are easier to find because those sections usually have a lot of gravestones with the section and grave number marked on the back of the stone.
Please note that the terms "public" and "private" do not relate to the existence of pauper graves there aren't any pauper graves at Ford Cemetery. All graves at Ford were paid for privately the term "public" refers to single interments and the term "private" refers to family plots.

Hi dlh1
BZ, AD, SJ and SV never had gravestones so they have always been areas of the cemetery without markers. When I visited and took my own photos of ancestors' burial places I just took wide shots of the public sections for my records. None of my people at Ford have gravestones even those buried in private graves. They either had limited financial resources or didn't consider paying for gravestones because people from their background were used to burial in unmarked graves.

I've been looking in for cemetery for the plot AS 308 and can't seem to find it. Does anyone have a map of the area where I can see where the plot use to be. It could just be that the headstone is no longer there. It's a private grave and the last person to be buried there was in 1942, Bridget O'Connor.
Can anyone help with this.
This website doesn't have a map for section AS: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... /maps.html
Thanks

As you have both the Section and plot number it might be a good idea to telephone the cemetery 0151 522 1017 - I believe they are very helpful and will try to locate it with you.

graves in ford cemetery.

Going back 10years(!) I wrote to ford cemetery to ask if my gt.g/father was buried there. In a short time i received a reply stating the plot letter and number. With sister and brother.in law in tow we travelled to liverpool, walked into the cemetery and just didnt know where to start ! Went to the "little house" in the grounds and one of the workmen took us straight to the plot, no headstone just a grassy area behind another marked grave . was very grateful....oh if it was only as easy as that going into cemeteries for us searchers !!

best of luck with your search. Nannatee
