Hi Gray,
Re:
1891 census RG12 Piece 2952 Folio 8 pg.9
address: 53 Conway Str; Everton L.pool
John Belasco says on cover born c 1838 Islington London - the actual image says aged 32 ( c 1859)
occ: Blacksmith

Mary Ann born c 1838 L.pool ( abt 21 years age gap between MaryA & John/Jacob)
Benjamin Hazletine (census sp) stepson c 1866 L.pool occ: stationery engine driver
Jane step daughter in law born c 1864 L.pool
See my earlier post. The census summary page has a pencilled correction from what looks like 55 to 35 for Mary's age.

So in 1891 John Belasco is here:
BELASCO, John - Head - Married - 33 - Blacksmith - Islington, London
BELASCO, Mary Ann - Wife - 35 - Liverpool, Lancashire
HAZELTINE, Benjamin - Stepson [sic] - Married - 25 - Stationery Engine Driver - Liverpool, Lancashire
HAZELTINE, Jane - Step-dtr-in-law [sic] - Married - 27 - Liverpool, Lancashire
Address: 53 Conway Street, Everton, Liverpool.
RG12 - Piece: 2952 - Folio: 8 - Page: 9

Benjamin Hazeltine is actually John's brother-in-law [added: and Jane is Benjamin's wife].
See 1881: RG11 - Piece: 3660 - Folio: 44 - Page: 20
Address: 83, Gordon Street, Everton

Hi Gray
I have the 1891 census thanks, thank you for the 1901 census regarding Mary living on her own. Jacob Belasco mite have changed his name so He could not be found I know they moved to Oldham around 1909,
Robert Edward Flannelly also moved with them, After my grandfather Clark Samuel Kettle was killed in the first world war my Granmother moved up to Oldham with my mother Rosetta, Harry, and Dorris,
Matilda and Jacob Belasco lived with daughter Esther at 52 Horsedge street Oldham. I dont think I will ever find Thomas Edward Flannelly, He has completely disapeared quite a mystery. Regards George

It happened! And still does! Most of us will have a relative who simply 'vanished'. Often all they did was adopt a new surname and move to another district.

I have my paternal grandmother's brother and his wife. They had at least five children up to 1894 and three of them had died by 1896. Reading 'between the lines' the death certificates hint at possible parental neglect although those words are not used. In the 1901 census the two surviving children were in Kirkdale Industrial Schools, aged 6 and 10, having been found wandering the streets in 1898. But their parents are nowhere to be found in 1901 or 1911. No deaths, no military service, no emigration, nothing.... just phffft.. gone!

Of the two children in care, the 10 year old died in 1904 still in Kirkdale and I have the youngest in the Cottage Homes until he joined the Royal Navy in 1910. He was a Petty Officer when he married in 1919 [father deceased, unknown occupation].

Forgot to mention I checked the Irish 1901 and 1911 censuses for Thomas with a very wide age range and all counties but no hits.

Hi

The baptisms for all of Thomas' and Matilda's children are on Ancestry, the last one being John Arthur Flanelly born 10 May 1891, baptised 22 may 1891 at St Peter Liverpool. Can't find him after that, although a possible death age 0 at Prestwich Mar q 1892.
