There is a baptism for a John Dumford on the familysearch site in 1858 that took place at St Anthony's, you would be able to see the record at the Record Office.

Without any other information, ie occupation, address etc. and knowing that this particular entry is your John, there is still no way of confirming that this is correct.

When you post a census entry it is helpful if you post what the census entry says. The entries do not give the wife's maiden name. For people reading it is much easier to post it in this type of format or something similar.

I gather you do not have any birth or marriage certificates. I do not see how you have come to the conclusion that John's mother is called Ann Campbell. There are some baptisms for children to this couple on Ancestry at St Anthony but the priest has not written the mother's maiden name. Therefore the only way to find it out is purchase John or one of his siblings' birth certificate.

You included a Cecelia Dunford. Where and when was she born? There isn't a registration for a Cecelia between 1875 and 1920. The only female C Dunfords born in Liverpool in that period are both Catherines, 1898 and 1905.

Just had the Royal Navy Record sent to me,also United Kingdom Merchant Navy Records of my Father John Francis Borgia Dunford.Born 1889.It seems he was in the Royal Navy as a boy ,Signed up in 1907.Now for some reason they Taught him Several Languages.German, Italian.French.Some Chinese.Spanish.Greek .And taught him Electronics as a Radio Operater. Now for Wounds received in Battle He was sent to the Naval Hospital Gillingham.Kent.1917 to 1918 When they Discharged him.But this is the funny Bit ,in 1914 while still in the Royal Navy ,He Signed up with the Liverpool City Police.His Policeman s Number was H279.His Family kept his little Red Book with his Number on it Which was given to him when Signing up.They also kept Photographs of him in his Policeman's Uniform with other Policeman.Outside of the Police Station.All i could find out is that in 1914 the first world war was breaking out.all the services were in trouble all needed help.So his time in the Police Force is not counted.Now i have Received from the United Kingdom ,Merchant Navy Seaman Records, 1835 to 1941,That John Francis Borgia Dunford ,Event Military Service.Year Range 1921 to 1941,in the Merchant Navy.
So he was in both world wars.1907 to 1918.then fought the German submarines in the second world war.1921 to 1941.and in between some where he was in the Liverpool city police,
then came to live in 44 king street Gillingham Kent where the local,police used him as a translator,while he worked as a electrician.
