james guthrie
Hi Ian,James Guthrie who lived with Isabella in Monk Street, died in 1949 and was buried with his mother and sister Janet Lester in Anfield cemetry. To my knowledge he never married, but would be interested to know differently
Kathleen really needs to get her hands on the marriage cert of this James and Annie, to find out who his father was, and any witnesses. That way she'll know if we've found the right James:)

Interesting, one comes up when I put the marriage year as 1906, the other comes up with someone called Isabella at the same place, though her surname not Guthrie.
Looks like I may have found the wrong one then

The only other one I could find was born 1880 liverpool.
On the 1881 census it has him born 1881, father James born Scotland, a House Joiner, mother Agnes born Scotland, and sister Maggie born Scotland 1879.

I am very confused as messages sent via the email system appear to have disappeared ( hope I haven't done anything wrong!!!)
Just in cae some of my other posts have gone astray : The story so far-
James Guthrie is son of James Guthrie (mariner) Born in Scotland and Sarah Ann Cooper, married in Cockermouth in March 1881 (10b 692). Now something has obviously happened to James Snr as in 1891, you find Sarah Ann Keefe living in Kirkdale with Charles Keefe, newspaper seller on 32 Westminster Road. Son is marked down as James G(uthrie) Keefe.
James Uses his proper name when he marries Annie Kelly ,and in 1911 Annie is living at 32 Westminster Rd with two children, Sarah Ann Guthrie and Elizabeth Guthrie. It looks like james has followed suit and gone to sea.
Now I can't find any deaths between 1881 and March 1888 when Charles Keefe and Sarah Ann Guthrie marry- was it a divorce or did he die overseas ( mariner??)

Hi Kathleen,
You can search deaths at sea on findmypast.

I don't have any credits, but I had a quick search and this came up, but no idea if he is your James.

Death aboard "Elysia" ship number 65803
James Guthrie 26yrs consumption 22/4/1883
Receipted 25/6/1883.
I've saved a copy of it just incase it's the correct James as I don't know his age.
It was the only Guthrie listed regardless of first name.
The document doesn't say where the ship was at the time of death.

You can't do anything wrong - if you have sent a private message to somebody it goes in your "Outbox" then when they have picked it up it is transferred to your "Sentbox".ianj4 wrote:I am very confused as messages sent via the email system appear to have disappeared ( hope I haven't done anything wrong!!!)
If by any chance it doesn't show up in there, then check at the top right of the page and see what percentage your box is full, maybe it needs emptying. Also check your Inbox since if that is full you won't receive any new messages.

Hi Ian,
I wouldn't have thought about him coming under a different surname, as I was looking for ones born between 1875 and 1880.

Hi Jan44
Thanks for ships list.
Looking at "Elysia" 1883 for the first half of the year she did the Atlantic run, later in the same year just did the Med & back.
As the death was 2months later before it was receipted, I'd be inclined to think James was buried in the Atlantic somewhere.
Must add this is just a guess.
