Robinson Family

I thought I'd been doing well with ancestry of Christopher John Charles Robinson b c1879 at Liverpool (my grandfather) after receiving a copy of his birth certificate - father Joshua Basnett Robinson, b abt1842, and mother Esther Robinson (nee Welch), b abt 1847.
I believed Joshua's parents were Thomas Robinson (b c1815) and mother Ann Robinson (no idea of maiden name) (born c 1815) but someone has made me question whether these were Joshua's parents.
The story goes that this branch of the Robinson family was fairly comfortably off but Grandad was apparently left out of the will because of his marriage to Jessie.
Can anyone let me know whether my research was going in the right direction or otherwise, please?

Hi,
The GRO reference for Joshua's birth is
Robinson Joshua Basnett Mar 1842 Liverpool vol 20 p 430
The certificate will give you his mother's maiden name which may help to confirm whether or not you have the right marriage.

Joshua probably married Mary Edwards 12 July 1836 at St David's Liverpool to prove it you would need the birth certificate of Joshua Basnett as stated above.

Joshua B Robinson died in 1914. As far as I can see he didn't leave a will.
Christopher was born on 17 January 1882 and died June 1969 according to the death indexes on Ancestry.
He was christened on 7 July 1884 at St Peter Liverpool just the names John Charles were used Joshua Basnett was listed as a weight clerk

Thank you Simone, Hilary and Emeltee.
I think I can safely presume that I was barking up the wrong tree with Thomas and Ann - and the other person who kindly told me there were more than one Joshua Basnett Robinsons was right! I'm pleased I asked for help on your site.
On Christopher John Charles's Birth Certificate (and all three Christian names are given) his father's occupation is given as Freight Clerk and the address given is 27 Boyd Street, Everton.
On Christopher's marriage certificate his Joshua's (father) occupation is given as Independent (means?) and the address given is Fenrose, Queen's Drive, Walton. No will (unless he had written his wishes in a letter) really surprises me.
