Directory look up please

On a military record the young man gives his next of kin as an uncle George Craddock of 204 Athol Street. There is also 102 Athol Street crossed out.

Please could anyone with a directory of around this time look for a George Craddock and an occupation as this might help trace the uncle in an earlier census. We don't mind if he's not in Athol Street but maybe somewhere in the locality.

This request is for a member at the help desk at Birkdale library this morning.

Sorry folks should have said it's a First World War record so I'm looking for George Craddock prior to that or immediately post 1st World War I suspect he could be a seman and that's why I'm struggling in a census. The nephew living with him was a James Monaghan who was born in 1893. We have his baptism, his parent's marriage and them on the 1891 census. He's not yet been found in 1901. We have his military records and his life after that.

Hi Hilary,
I found these possibles for James Monaghan in 1901. I've included the names of parents where given. If there's a match let me know which one and I'll post the reference.

MONAGHAN, James 1893 8 Liverpool [Parents: James & Annie]
MONAGHAN, James 1892 9 West Derby [ Michael & Mary]
MONAGHAN, James 1893 8 Liverpool [John & Margaret]
MONAGHAN, James E 1891 10 West Derby [Susannah -widow]
MONAGHEN, James 1893 8 Liverpool [Michael & Jane]
MONNIGAN, James 1895 6 Liverpool [Mary - no status]

If George Craddock was an blood uncle he should be related to either James' father or mother. If we can backtrack both parents we might find the connection.

And I visited 204 Athol Street in the 19-shweppes census but no Craddock or Monaghan there.

Thanks DS

Unfortunately none of the Monaghan families in 1901 are his. So far we have not conncected Craddocks to Monaghans except in an ealier census there are Monaghans lodging with Craddocks.

The lady is just delighted that we have actually found evidence of her father!

Not much help sorry.

THanks Jan and Erika

Maybe young James was lodging at the hotel in Athol Street when he joined up. The George in Anfield looks a possibility I'll follow him up.

Sorry for late reply I've been away and have visitors now.
