The death certificate for a relative gives her name as Annie Kierman otherwise Bennett, dob 1910.
She had a daughter in 1927, Vera, born in the Workhouse in Brownlow Hill and gave Kiernan as her surname. I cannot find a Birth or Marriage Cert. for Annie, and her address was given as Edge Mount
when Vera was born, but nothing further is known for several years. Any ideas will be appreciated.JAYJAY

There's also a Joan Kiernan bn 1st qtr 1927 Lpl maiden Kiernan.
Annie would have been only 17 when Vera was born?
There is a death in Ancestry, years differ
Annie KIERMAN bn 8.3.11 died April 1987 Lpool.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Presumably the assumption is being made that Annie was born in Lancashire - have your investigated the Annie Kiernan, nearest in age to the one you are searching for, living in Cheetham, North Manchester in the 1911 census? If she found herself pregnant Liverpool might be a convenient place to move to if she thought she might not have the support of her family.

RE:

Her death registration reads:
KIERMAN, Annie
Registration district: Liverpool
Year of registration: 1987; Month of registration: April
Date of Birth: 8 March 1911
Volume no: 36; Page no: 696; Reg no: 487.
She should therefore appear in the census of her birth year but is elusive so far in both the England and Irish census.
I am intrigued by two factors:
a) The precise date of birth given at her death could have come from an official document, perhaps a birth cert which would answer a number of questions such as place of birth and her parents' names.
b) The 'otherwise Bennett' note on her death cert. Since she apparently didn't marry, the birth of Vera in the Infirmary of Brownlow Hill Workhouse gives her maiden name as Kiernan [probably a spelling error], I believe there is a possibility that Annie herself was illegitimate having been born Bennett and her mother later married a Kierman/Kiernan. Or, did she herself in fact marry a Bennett, was later divorced and reverted to her previous name.
Need to find out where that precise date of birth came from.

I saw that one Blue but discounted it for the moment because she is 9 months old, whereas the very precise DoB on the death cert would make her less than a month old. It matches the June Qtr 1910 birth that Bertieone found earlier.

If that marriage cert is 'available', is there a father's name entered for Vera?

Hopefully it is and there is DS,
I wonder if Jay has sight of the death cert and the heading to this thread is a double typo, would Jay miss the important dates? Hmmmm
