Hi,
Can you kind souls with Anc please view the baptism and give an opinion on Edwards middle name, is it William or Williams? His Fathers name was William.
I suspect at this stage his mothers maiden name was Williams, I can't find the birth registered on FreeBMD, on Family search I get 4 hits, 1 Williams, 3 William.

Liverpool, England, Baptisms, 1813-1906

Edward Williams Barker
Birth Date:
9 Jun 1862
Baptism Date:
7 Jul 1862
Parish:
Liverpool St Peter
Father's Name:
William Barker
Mother's Name:
Mary Barker

Thank you,

It looks like it has an s on the end to me

If it's for the birth cert that you want it, I would suggest that you use Dickiesam's method of not specifying the reference but give the parents names AND the address, so long as they haven't moved between registration and baptism, then hopefully you will get the right one then.

What date was the eldest child born? wondering if the marriage could be
Marriages Sep 1857 Prescot 8b 763 William Barker and Mary Williams

this may be the one you have been thinking about.

I'm not sure it's an 's' - if you look at the father's name there's a 'tail' after the last letter. Perhaps just the way the person recording has written it.

Thats the one Mary,
First child, Margaret 1859, Alice 1860, John 1861.

Thanks for the image, the recorder seems to put tails quite a lot Barb.

That marriage would certainly fit for date, noticing William's birthplace in 1861 as Tarbock, and the marriage took place in St Michael's Huyton, it does link.

Quarter and ref on FreeBMD, the church on LancsBMD. Sorry but Huyton doesn't appear to be on Ancestry nor Online Parish Clerks, so no details.

I wonder if there is anybody visiting Huyton Library instead of the Record Office lately, they may be able to look it up for you.

Wondering if there was a slip-up between quills in one place and another?
The only Edward William B*R birth registration in Lancashire 1962-63 is...

Name: BOULTER, Edward William
Registration district: Liverpool
Year of registration: 1862; Sep qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 189

And it is in the right quarter.

Thanks again DS,

I've dismissed those marriages for one reason or another, for now. I'll see where Mary Williams leads me.

Hi Katie,

Did you have any luck with the above matter?
I'd hate to think you posted something and the electronic wizardry has misbehaved and I haven't thanked you.
However, if you were unable to help on this occasion, thank you anyway.
Will I have to go to Huyton to access the required information or will it be at the records office also, now that its open?

Hi Bertie

sorry for the delay. Our Dottie done this to-day. Apparently 2 fiches which would have this marriage on have gone awol so she was unable to look the marriage up. They have copies on Microfilm at Lancashire Record Office.
