Morning all,
Does anyone know if it's possible to get a map of the Simpson Street area for 1911 that includes house/building numbers? Also one which has an indication of what each building was at that time? Thanks all

There's a 1911 Directory of Liverpool on Ancestry it was probably compiled in 1910. Simpson Street is on pages 649 & 650. Numbers of interest to you:-
28 Bennett George shopkeeper
30 Bennett George lodging house

A map with numbers is probably unlikely, this may be the nearest at the time, it's about 1901.

The Ordnance Survey map of 1906, 1:2500 scale, shows no house numbers. Sorry. I agree that the directory is the best you will get, as already posted.

OS detail didn't always show house-numbering, as Daggers says.

These properties were on the block between Kitchen Street and Bridgewater Street not certain about which side of the road. The 1938 Directory says it's the "right side". By the 1950s the land on both sides is vacant so it was either demolished or damaged in the war.
You can have a more detailed look at this area using the link below you'll probably have to search for Blundell Street Liverpool as it's based on modern properties in the area. There are different maps to choose from the 1891 and 1908 maps are usually good ones to view:-

Blue, you're a diamond
Found out that it wasn't a blitz fire, it was due to uncles getting drunk and they burned it down apparently!!
My father remembers being there, but he was very young. He was born in 1943, so still there at that point.
Getting closer!

Hi Jan asked me to post this for her, she can't get into the forum at the moment.

Title 25 Simpson Street
Description A view of the end of a row of terraced three storey house. The house at the end is derelict, with boarded up windows and the steps to the front door missing. A poster on the wall says 'Lyon's Tea'. Next to the end of the terrace is a one storey building with a large sliding door. Paint marks on the end of the terrace imply that another building was once attached here. Further along to the right, a child sits in the doorway of an insanitary, but not derelict, house.
The image is faded, with an overall yellow cast.
