Can anyone help me find out who Thomas Barrow born 1856 ditton (Widnes) married her name is Alice on the census forms and her children are ida, eva and Alice in 1891.

Alice was born in 1864 from Widnes and on 1911 census it says they have been married 25 years so the year must be approx. 1886 when they married.

I am really trying to find out if Thomas was my GG Grandads brother - James Barrow born 1853. If I can find out his fathers name it might confirm that he is his brother. Father is Thomas Barrow born 1822 a watchmaker and Publican born Farnworth nr prescot.

Please give the reference for the 1891 census so that we can see the ages of the children listed there.

In 1901 if I have the correct family the children are different ages, one wouldn't have been born for the 1891 census.

Hale Road, Ditton
Thomas Barrow 44 General Labourer Ditton
Alice Wife 37 Widnes
Alice A daur 16 "
Eva " 6 "
Ida " 5 Ditton
John Wright Boarder 19 General Labourer "

There is an Eva Harriet born Q3 1894 Prescot 8b 650 and also an Ida Ellen born Q3 1897 Prescot 8b 712. You may need one of these birth certificates in order to get Alice's maiden name.

Ida married Albert Llewellyn Hedgecock in St Michael's Church, Ditton in 1918, I would suspect that her baptism may have been in that church also, unfortunately these details don't appear on any site I have been able to search online, so perhaps the registers will be available in Widnes library. It's possible, but not certain that the mother's maiden name might be given on the baptism.

Can't find a marriage for Thomas Barrow/ Alice Tindall,
A marriage between a William Tindall and Alice A Heald, 1883 may have taken place. Chorlton, Lancashire.

Did Thomas and Alice A marry?

firstly thank you for your great advice it has made me delve futhur to do a bit more research and found that a William Tindell married a Alice Barber in 1884 in Liverpool. An Alice Barbar of about that age lived in Rose Street in previous census' and it would fit in with her being born in widnes. On the 1891 census there was an Annie Tindell aged 57 (maybe this is her mother in law)and Fred Tindell age 16 from Liverpool (maybe a nephew of William Tindell).

I can't find a marriage for Alice and Thomas Barrow so maybe they didn't marry ?but i think they may have both been widowed as I found a Thomas Barrow and Sarah Barrow in the 1881 census which states he is from Ditton and is the son in law. I can't find a death for Sarah Barrow (nee Price ) or William Tindell though.

I look forward to your thoughts on my findings as I am not too sure about them

Thanks Andrea

The marriage won't have her mother's name on it, my suggestion was to search the same church for a baptism. Fingers crossed.
