Lost in the 1901 Census - is there a quick search

I can't find my errant family in the 1901 census. I suspect it was partly deliberate which isn't helping me (previous post, the marriage was probably bigamous) so going through the 1901 census page by page for West Derby and Birkenhead. Just wondered if there was a quicker way?

The Family are Gerrard - often spelt with one R
Head is Joseph - known as Jo to his friends - 40
Wife is Frances age 35
Daughter Louisa age 14/15

In 1896, when Joseph and Frances married at the register office, they lived next door to each other in Brook Road Birkenhead. Before this they had lived in West Derby.

In March 1904 when Louisa was married they lived at 21 Great Homer Street, Liverpool.

Joseph was a Painter.

Incidentally Louisa married James Vernon a boatman, he would have been 18/19 at the time of the census - can't find him either.

Any advice would be very welcome.

Hi,
It is quite possible the surname has been wrongly transcribed and it is possible to search on first names only, but accurate ages are needed. A bit more background would help our search.... I assume this is the marriage?

GERARD, Joseph married FINDLAY, Frances
Registration district: Birkenhead, Cheshire
Year of registration: 1896; Dec qtr
Volume no: 8A; Page no: 921

What were the fathers' names and occupations on the marriage cert? Do you have a birth cert for Louisa? I can find only one match for 1885...
GERRARD, Female (unnamed)
Registration district: West Derby, Lancashire
Year of registration: 1885; Jun qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no:437

Finally... where are Frances and Louisa in 1891?

Have you found Joseph and Frances in the 1910+1 census? I could only see a couple living at 43 Guildford Street, Egremont, Cheshire. Joseph [48] is a house painter and his spouse is Frances Mary [45], both born Liverpool. Were married about the right year.

Hi there

Right marriage for Joseph and Frances.
Right families in the 1911 census - Louisa marrying Martin James Vernon (known as James).

Louisa's birth Louisa Woods, Sept Qtr, 1886, Liverpool, 8b 118 (Bert thanks for adding the link - bit beyond me).

1891 Frances and daughter Louisa lodging with Frances's brother John Woods (should be Wood) at 89 Bamber Street, West Derby.

I know that Frances was born 14th September 1866; but her age wasn't that accurate in the census returns. Frances was recorded as age 73 when she died (10 June 1940, grave records). Joseph was buried 18th July 1936, age recorded as 74.

Both father's were already deceased at the time of the marriage between Frances and Joseph. Joseph's father, also called Joseph, had been a locomotive engine driver. France's father was a sergeant 42nd regiment of foot.

Joseph is proving difficult to track down in earlier census returns due to lack of information - can't be sure I am following/connecting the right one. I had thought 1901 would be easier!

Hi DS

I did actually trace this group back and got the birth certificate. Unfortunately this Joseph E's dad was a clerk in a cotton mill. My Joseph E's dad was an Locomotive driver.

The 1911 census records him as born in Liverpool but can't find him.

Just seems to be a brick wall.
