Hi the bad pennies back again

Still with the Prendergast family..........this time Jane Annie S (possibly Surtees) Usher. Just to refresh ........ Born in Oct-Nov-Dec 1900 South Shields Durham to Mary Josephine Prendergast and William Surtees Usher. When William died Mary moved back to Liverpool and there in 1913 married John William Scott.

One of the things you found for me on the internet was the following;

I am trying to trace my maternal grandmother, She lived in Rimrose Rd, Bootle. Her name was May Josephine Usher, nee Prendergast, but was always known as Mary My grandfather died sometime between 1906 and 1913, when my grandmother remarried, to a John Scott. they lived at Rimrose Rd. until 1936. There was also living there Florence Usher, John William Surtees Usher (a merchant navy officer) Sidney Usher, Wilhelmina Usher, these are my Uncles and Aunts who I never met. and a "half" Uncle Joseph Francis Scott. I am trying to find where they moved to. I would appreciate any assistance

I have established is was from 2007 by a chap called Maurice on a liverpool site. Who ever he was never made contact with the site again

I have found and followed all the above names............and made contact with other trees who are included them.....even Joseph Frances Scott two of his three children are still alive and living in Liverpool. !! Sydney Usher married my nan's sister Norah..........and I know they had no children. Joseph was a witness at their marriage.

The only one I cannot trace is Jane Annie S Surtees. I have tried every combination .....looking for a birth for Maurice.........and a marriage for Jane to anyone!! Cant find anything..........probably as usual doing it the wrong way around!!

Can anyone help please............Maurice says he never met his aunt's and uncles, so I am presuming once married Jane Annie moved away.

Is it just a needle in a haystack moment and I should give up while I still have some sanity left (although even thats in dispute now :? )

There are time I wish I had taken up knitting...........but not for long

Trying to figure out who the missing one might be, presumably he got the details of the "also living in the house" from the 1911 census, do you have the reference for this?

OK I have discovered that they were living in Tyne Dock, Durham, no husband in sight, May 34 claims to be Head (married crossed through), but married 12 years, 4 children, all still living. Those mentioned by "Maurice" being John 8, Florence 5 and Sydney 3 all born Tyne Dock and the eldest who is presumably Jane Annie having been written as "Jenaie" who is 10.

Can we assume that this would be Maurice's mother since he claims he was looking for his maternal grandmother.

Could be miles out.... but on the 1901 census taken on 31 March Jane Annie is shown as 7 months old. That would put her born in August 1900.

Year of registration: 1979; Jun qtr

DS You let the whole cat out of the bag. I was hoping to leave just the hint until I could see if I could manage to look up the marriage this afternoon at the RO.

Well you beat me to it with the marriage by a cat's whisker..... :P

Didn't find anything for Maurice up to 2005, so it may be worth browsing the Electoral Rolls from 2000 on?

I had checked to see whether there was an appropriate son before I posted the marriage ;)

Some of them are online on a subscription site, but it all depends on whether they allow their details, of recent years there is that option so the names may not show up.

Pity the phone books only give initials, there is a possible 4 M McCann's in the 1970's.

Hi Tanya

Welcome to the group x

Yes I am the one you have been communicating with all this time from Ancestry !! I have just replied to you on there as well. Will send copies of everything I have.

Since I put this query on I have come on leaps and bounds with the help of this group. I have now found Mary and her sister Norah ( my grandmother) on the 1939 (as explained ) !
