Death of ancestor - John Campbell

Looking to find the date and place of death of my GGF, John Campbell who lived in Liverpool 1864 to 1871 at least.
He married my GGM, Mary Ann Louisa Usher at Church of St. Mary Edge Hill 3rd March 1864, and both appeared in the 1871 Census at Liverpool with their children, John Duncan Campbell(my GF) and Elizabeth Baxter Campbell.
His Master Mariners replacement certificate was issued at Liverpool in September 1867 after his ship "The Duke" ON15028 was sunk in the West Indies earlier that year.
The family migrated to Australia in 1875 including Mary Ann's mother Tryphena Usher (nee Rickards) but without husband John.
John Campbell must have died before the family's departure also Mary's father John Usher for them to be able to afford the journey to Australia.
Hope someone can help me, I'm getting older and would to learn his fate while I can.
Kind regards

Hi and welcome to the forum. Could you please give the details from the marriage certificate, including the witnesses.

For anybody wishing to help, the details from the 1871 census are
RG10; Piece: 3776; Folio: 22; Page: 35
20 Argyle Street, St Thomas, Liverpool
John Campbell Head M 45 Master Mariner Scotland
Mary A wife M 30 Birmingham Warwickshire
John D son 6 Scholar On the Sea
Elizabeth B daur 3 Scholar Liverpool
/
Jonas P Blakey Lodger Unm 45 Seaman Keswick Cumberland
John Usher Lodger M 58 House Joiner Gloucestershire

Is this John, Mary's father? he would have been quite young.

I think this death entry would be worth investigating
Q3 1876
USHER John 64 Liverpool 8b 88

If you have never ordered a certificate in England before you can do it online at www.gro.gov.uk and it will cost you £9.25, the best price, don't order through any subscription sites.
