Inquest... which papers?

Post by simone »

Hi all :D

Well I got the death cert for Robert Temple Rudd in 1930... he fractured his skull after fall from scaffolding at new Woolworth's on Chapel Street Southport :(

get's through the Somme, wounded, recovers, goes back out there, survives, and then falls and dies :(

cert says Cororner for Lancashire, Inquest held 12 May 1930..
what's my best bet? southport newspapers? which were they at the time?

will prob try The Liverpool Echo as he lived in West Derby....... Culme? Road

The local paper would be Southport Visiter and it is on film at Sefton Local a History at Crosby library. The inquest would probably have been held in Southport so I would think that would be your best bet.

No need to book just turn up. There is car park next door paying. The local history bit is upstairs. Tell them Hilary sent you! 50p a printout from the paper as far as I remember.

Good luck!
