Hi everyone! So glad to be back!

Hi - can anyone help me find out the parent(s) of a Richard Jones born in 1837 in Over, Cheshire living with Thomas and Hannah Barnes in 1841 and 1851 census - listed as their nephew or advice how to find them please? Thank you

I have posted this on the Liverpool facebook page but just wondered if there are any fresh eyes to help me with this - Richard was my gt gt grandfather.

has a baptism for Richard to Samuel, a labourer, and Ann, residence Over, 02/04/1837.. parish Davenham

Samuel Jones labourer to Ann Dean, spinster, 03/12/1834 at Chester St Mary, both reside Chester St Mary
witnesses Hannah Dean and William Mitcalf

there is another Samuel Jones marriage to Ann Jones in 1836 but he is a mariner

there is a marriage of Thomas Barnes bachelor to Hannah Randles spinster 29/12/1806 at Bunbury, both reside Bunbury (I see this is Thomas' birthplace on the 1851 HO107; Piece: 2166; Folio: 137; Page: 18)

Thank you for your time - I need to link this family to my Richard but so far have been unsuccessful - Mary gave this input on the facebook page too

"They are on the 1861 census as Tom Barnes is now 83 . They are in same street Meadow Bank but diff number. Richardis now married to Mary ? And a couple of young daughters. I see Richardis born in Whitegate Cheshire.? I have found a marriage in 1855 5th Feb to Mary Randles in Whitegate and they are both about 18/19 . brides father Is a Joseph Randles and fathers name is Thomas Jones. Richard seemed too young to be the nephew as he was 14 and they were in 70's maybe great nephew?"

Great Simone and thank you- will have a look and see if their are any children of Thomas and Hannah Barnes or should I start with siblings of Hannah and Thomas?

These are the siblings of Thomas Barnes all born in Bunbury, Cheshire

Jonathan 20 Sept 1772
Mary 25 Jan 1778

Father: Jonathan Barnes

and I have found one sibling of Hannah Randles c. 20 July 1775 in Harthill, Cheshire

Peggy Randles 19 Jul 1779

Mother Many

Thomas And Hannah Barnes had three children:

Joseph born 1806 in Tilston

Twins - Mary and Jane Barnes born 1811 in Tilston

Mary Barnes married John Hough on 22 Jan 1837 he is listed as a widower and a wheelwright, witness George Chesters and Jane Chesters.

Jane Barnes married George Chesters 29 Dec 1832 in Bunbury witness Samuel Chester, Joseph Barnes, Mary Banres

But still cannot find a link to Richard Joness!

Have you thought that they just might have taken him in out of the goodness of their heart as there was nobody else about? Perhaps they were just neighbours?

That's another angle! There is an Ann Jones born 1821 living with Mary Hough in the 1841 census (possibly the daughter of Thomas and Hannah Barnes?? in Over Lane, Over, Cheshire)

I wonder if Thomas is actually the grandson. I have two instances where the grandson is referred to as the nephew on a census.
