Liverpool Economy in the 1800's

Post by Ken Holden »

I am researching a dramatic change in circumstance for one of my family lines during the 1800's in Liverpool.

It appears there were a series of significant changes in the local economy as certain financial situations showed a series of downturns. What was the economic history of the city in that century? Where can I look to research the factors that changed the economy so radically?
Researching: Holden, Shuttleworth, Hoskins, Dawson, Walker, Tipping, Sheffield, MacKenzie, LeBreton.

There are various histories of Liverpool available free online but perhaps you need to research about the general situation of the country following the end of the Napoleonic Wars or are you thinking about another era?
