Vines Walton

Hi,

I'm new to the Forum and hope someone might help me.

My Great Grandfather John Davies was married in Croston parish church in 1890. On his marriage certificate his place of residence is 'Vines, Walton' and I've tried for a while to find out what or where that might be, thinking it might be a house where he worked (his occupation is labourer so that's probably unlikely), or a pub/boarding house of some sort.

Does anyone have any ideas or information as to where that might be please?

Thanks!

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk shows John to be of Ulnes Walton at marriage which was an area within the parish of Croston. I would assume that someone has read Ulnes Walton as Vines Walton!

Ulnes Walton is about 30 miles from Liverpool.

The wife is from Eccleston and that will be the Eccleston near Croston not the Eccleston near St Helens.

Dear Hilary

Wow! - I've been trying to find that out for over a year! Thanks so much! That's really helpful and I'm very grateful.

Thanks again,

Welcome to the Forum, Phil.

Just what was needed - a second pair of eyes and a look in a different place.
