I am trying to find the date of death of John Cardwell, a merchant in Liverpool who lived at 62 Rodney Street between 1818 & 1831. I am tempted to believe that he died in 1831 but have not traced a burial or will.
He is possibly best known as father of the statesman Edward Cardwell, MP for Liverpool and other towns.

John's wife was Elizabeth, their fourth child, also Elizabeth, was baptised at St Philip's, Liverpool in 1823; three older children were baptised at Pendleton nr Manchester.

Any references to his business and partnership with T.J. Cardwell, probably John's brother, would also be welcome.

There's a burial in St Marylebone, London on 19 May 1831: John Cardwell age 49. Abode Hamilton Terrace

"Lately, in London, John Cardwell Esq. of Liverpool, third son of the late Richard Cardwell Esq.of Blackburn"

Rev Richard Cardwell was for a time Rector of St Paul's church off Old Hall Street in Liverpool and lived in Rodney Street in a different house from his brother's. Before that election (yes, there were elcetions then as the town's corporation owned the living) he was a member of the church's staff with the title of 'evening lecturer'.
