Policemen in Liverpool 1850's

On researching some family history, I have found that on the 1851, 1861 and 1871 census, my great, great grandfather was a policeman in Liverpool. I'm not sure where I can look to find any more information about his police career. Would be grateful if anyone could give me some advice as to where to look. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Our talk at the meeting yesterday evening was about Directories and mentioned was Police Stations.

Where your ancestor lived will be likely to be near where he lived. Have you looked along the street to see whether there are others of the same occupation?
