A visitor seeking guidance!

I live in California and I will be visiting Britain in September this year. I have already researched my ancestors online and discovered births, marriages, etc. back to my 2xgreat grandfather. They lived primarily in Waterloo, Great Crosby, Lancashire. I want to visit any churches, libraries, local historical museums, etc. that might be connected with my family. I will continue to search online, but would love to connect with a local member, and perhaps, email with you over the next few months. We could meet up and go to lunch or dinner when I am there. If you are interested in making a connection, or if you volunteer with the local society, I would love to hear from you! I have not used a "forum" before, so I hope I am doing this correctly! Thanks you ! Cynthia

Hi Cynthia and welcome to the forum.
We are mostly members of our Society, if like yourself we have a membership number in our profile.
We host a number of Help Desks throughout our area, the Liverpool one being each Tuesday afternoon (1.30 - 4.00 pm) on the 3rd Floor of the William Brown Street Library where we also have our monthly meetings on the 4th Floor, second Tuesday evening of each month. You'd be very welcome to come along and meet us at either or both, and if you needed any assistance at the Record Office this is where you would find it. Those of us who man the Help Desk usually remain in town to have our evening meal before the meeting in the evening on those days.
The other area you will be interested in will be the Southport Group, this link will take you to the Help Desks in the area
https://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ ... /index.php and details of their meetings are here

I hope you have a lovely holiday in our wonderful city where there is lots to visit apart from places connected with your own ancestry, we'd be happy to advise.

Hi
I am a member of the Southport Group of the Society we hold help desks at Crosby Library on the 1st and 3rd Friday mornings of the month. Crosby Library would be a good place to start they have quite a lot of family and local records available for searching. Lots of local old photographs of the area, maps, directories, electoral registers etc

Welcome Cynthia,
What surnames are your researching?

Cynthia,
Thanks for your p.m. - I have not been able to send you a p.m.
Unfortunately none of the surnames you are researching are in my tree - I was hoping for matches so I could help!
I haven't been to Crosby Library in recent years, as I no longer drive. I hope some other members who read your post can help and possibly accompany you around the addresses and churches you would like to see.
Good Luck,
Glenys

Thank you Glenys for your effort! As I have more info or questions, I will post them. Kat has been kind enough to email me directly. I hope I can meet up with one of the members during my trip!
