Just got a birth cert of nans first child, says residence of informant as St Hilda, Penny Lane, Wavertree. Baby born in Liverpool maternity hospital in 1919
Would appreciate any information anyone might have

St. Hilda, Penny-lane, Liverpool. This is under the control of the Liverpool Diocesan Association for Preventive and Rescue Work. The mothers are received three months before the confinement, labour takes place at the Liverpool Maternity Hospital, and the mothers and children return to “ St. Hilda " some two weeks afterwards. So Nan was in a mother and baby home, would that be cause she wasnt living at home? or what other reason could there be? She would have been 20 at the time. Says she was a domestic servant, so presume that meant she had a job, maybe?
Its fascinating trying to put all these things together to get a picture of her life, but also so hard.
Must of been hard being an unmarried mum in those days.
We have a story which suggests the father was an american soldier over here during the war, so no chance tracking anyone down there!

a bit more of an insight, where did you find that info. By time my uncle was 5 my nan had married my grandad.
I put the google books thing in search and didnt come up
