Prisoner records in Lancashire Archives for Eliza Davies

I am researching my ancestor,Eliza Davies who was convicted for larceny at Lancaster Liverpool Borough /Quarter Sessions 6 Feb 1843 and transported for 7 years to Van Diemans Land, arriving on the Angelina in August 1844. I gather she had had at least 4 other convictions for theft in Liverpool, for which she was sentenced to periods of imprisonment. I am wanting to find her family in England and I have no information, other than her Tasmanian indent stated that she had a brother William, a carter.
The Lancashire Archives have suggested that I might find more information about Eliza in the following resources:
QJC/5 : Calendars of prisoners
QJI/1/216: Indictment rolls
QSO/2/211: Court order books.
I am wondering if anyone has used these resources, and can comment whether they may contain personal information about a prisoner, such as their address and their family members.
I am new to this forum and look forward to hearing from you.
with thanks
Margaret

The Society has a project about "naughty girls" who were transported to Tasmania, we are doing the England side while there are researchers for the Tasmanian side.
I will ask our Project Co-ordinator if she either has any information on your Eliza, or can make any suggestions.

Hello Margaret, thank you so much for enquiring about Eliza Davis. I am leading a small team of researchers in the UK and we are working alongside the Female Convicts Research Centre in Tasmania finding out about these "naughty girls" and their lives before transportation. Unfortunately we have not yet started researching the Angelina 1844 although it is written out and on our "next to do" list. I have the same information as you have about her brother William who was a carter and that she was tried in Liverpool and sentenced to 7 years for "stealing 9 handkerchiefs and 6 yards of print". You may find out more about her if you look on the Millbank Prison site as the majority of convicts were taken there prior to transportation.
www.victorianlondon.org/prisons/millbank.htm.
https://www.digitalpanopticon.org may also have some information. Sometimes you can find information on the actual ship and what happened during the voyage on
https://www.femaleconvicts.org.au/convi ... ip-records. This site also have the Surgeon's Journals and Eliza may be on that. It would be good if you could let me have your email address so that when I allocate the ship to one of the researchers they can contact you and you can work together on her. Keep in touch and thanks for getting in touch. Pat Bellas.

Thank you all for your replies to my post. I feel energised to continue on with my search for Eliza's history and family. I know quite a lot of her life in Tasmania and have visited her gravesite there. It is so good to have contact with people who live in her birthplace.
Regards
Margaret

Hello again Margaret, as I said in my email to you, it is great to actually make contact with one of our convicts descendants. Once Eileen is back I will send her all the details of the Angelina and especially Eliza and ofcourse yourself. It will be brilliant to help you find out all about her life here. Keep in touch Margaret. Pat
