George. Ernest. Mason

George Ernest Mason b Birkenhead 1911, was in the merchant navy,and worked as a cook aboard the M V Reina Del Pacifico,
died the 4/4/1944, according to the C W G C, he's buried in bebington cemetery, i know this vessel became a troop ship,
but i cannot find if it was involved in any kind action around this time.

His death was registered in Birkenhead which suggests that's where he died, so action from previous years perhaps caught up with him?

According to this history of the MV Reina del Pacifico she was undamaged throughout WW2, despite some near misses.

I still think it will either be an injury or illness received whist abroad the ship, the death cert may throw more light on it. There's a notification in the Echo,(can't open) but I don't suppose that would enlighten us more.

The Echo notice says that he died at 27 Leighton Road, Tranmere; and had served 14 years with PSN Co.
