Orry Street and Tarlock Streets?

Post by tonyhennessey1 »

Hi all
I need to take a walk down what I think are Orry Street and Tarlock Street in the 1901 census. The street names aren't too clear on a death cert. I have. Can anyone be kind enough to put me in the right direction for the district numbers for these please.

Thanks

:)

Could Tarlock be Tatlock? If so, it was/is off Vauxhall Road, next to Blenheim St.
Orry St was in same area (L5) but I cannot pinpoint it as late as this!

Hi Tony, found Orry St district number on the 1901 was 10 .
The Sub Registration District was St Martin .
Ecclesiastical Parish, St James the Less .

This may help you with your walk

RG13; Piece:3408; Folio: 95; Page:21 .
2 Orry St
James Cannell 55 b Isle of Man Douglas .

You may be able to pick up Tatlock St trawling through the pages .

Hope this helps

Both Orry and Tatlock Streets are still there, although now new houses.

I don't know how much I like this streetview on googlemaps for our own privacy, but it's good when wanting to see whether the houses of our ancestors are still there or have been demolished. Both the above streets can be seen if you go to http://maps.google.co.uk/

Tony, found Tatlock St.....District 26 .
Sub Reg Dist St Martin .
Ecclesiastial Parish, St Martin in The Fields .

RG13 Piece:3412; Folio:24; Page:1
Starting at 2 Tatlock St .
Annie Curwen 78 b Lancashire Hambleton .

Mary, looked at the link to Google Street View, noticed some Bungalows in Orry St, could be sort of a target for break ins... however, my sister in law lives in a bungalow and she loves it .

Me again.

I just wanted to say an extra big thanks because I've just found more family through this walk. For some reason they have never appeared listed when I've done a normal search.

Thanks

Hi Doreen
no I'm not pulling anybody's leg about my legs. I've got a dislocated kneecap on one leg and the other one has joined it in sympathy. Oh the pleasures of getting old...er.

As for the running man... with all of that energy, I use him to power my PC. Actually I should have waited until next Wednesday to let you in on that one.

Och, sorry Tony,
If you need anymore help with your District numbers and streets let us know .
I was surprised to see that Tatlock Street was in district 26, think it was at the other end of Vauxhall Road as Tina found, and Orry Street was near the other end by Athol St .

Wednesday erm ....my energy provider is due to reduce the cost of electricity :D

Cheers

My sympathies Tony.
I recently tore a knee ligament, that was bad enough, brought tears to me eyes. I'd rather give birth even at my age
I'm wondering who Orry St was named after, it looks like it should have another letter at the start?
Was a Mr Orry an Alderman or such like??
No doubt someone will know!
Good luck with the Leckie Bill Doreen...

One of the Isle of Man packets was called King Orry - could be for him.

Thanks Daggers
Yes, the street could have been named after King Orry from IOM.
There are stones near Lexey.
Sounds good to me.
