Hi.. Not sure where to put this post..but here goes...I know this seems a bit dim (well more than a bit)) I see so many 4th cousins etc on the various forums that it got me wondering... how I am related to my gt grandmothers/grandfathers brothers and sisters?

Also if you use a genealogy programme you can often appoint yourself as the root of the tree and add a column to your records to show the relationship of each person to yourself. I use Family Historian but I believe you can do similar in other programmes also.

When I first met a descendant of my Gt Gt Grandfather we couldn't work it out - so Cuz it is ever since!!

If you have accerss to Genes Reunited and go to the 'Hot Matches' page there is a chart that will tell you how to work out how you are related.

Hi Tina.. and Mary...I am still trying to work it out ...couldnt sleep last night tossing it around in my head ..... interesting though....maybe cousins are the best bet.
