My great grandfather Thomas McCann used to own a chip shop somewhere in Liverpool sometime after 1924 and upto 1939. Not sure what resource I can consult to confirm this and find more details. Can anyone help? Thanks Kev

Some of the members have old trades directories on CD, I have a few of them and I looked in the 1938 Directory, but the only McCann Fried Fish Dealer was a John McCann 490 Prescot Road.

Thanks for that. Thomas had a brother John so that may be a connection - 490 Prescot Road - any idea if that is the Liverpool end or the Huyton end of Prescot Road?

Just found out 490 is in Old Swann and is today a Chinese Chippy!

I think it's the Old Swan end if you go to google maps and type in prescot road L13 3DB.
