I'm in two minds now to write a letter to whichever catholic churches were about at that time - to ask for any more information.
Already had a little peek at Drumcliff on Google (my kind of wild coastline!) Not much on Magherrow (Maugherow) Some sites say it's now known as Rosses head?
Feeling mightily relieved to have at least something to go on. Couldn't find any marriage for Daniel and Maria. Nor is the said child with them on the 1851 census......uh-oh, I feel a sad ending coming on! Very bad years in Ireland following the christening?
Going to muster all the ancestry books I have on the Emerald Isle later!
I am such a happy bunny!
Help needed. Irish ancestors - Goldie and Towie.
Rosses Head is up there in Donegal. Rosses Point is in Sligo, just west of Sligo Town. Great golf course! Some sites say it's now known as Rosses head?

Knew it was something like that! Too much excitement to get things right!
Now wondering if Leitrim might come into play as I did see a Patrick Goldie with birthplace Leitrim - it's not a million miles away from Drumcliff is it? Wondering now if the Towie (Touhy) family lived in a position where either county's churches were near?
Just read a piece about the amount of folk who left Ireland from Sligo. Coffin ships were mentioned. Oh dear!
Trust a bloke to know where the good golf courses are

And I don't play golf. As Mark Twain said golf is a good walk spoiled!
