PEMBERTON PEDIGREES: book pub. 1923
Posted: 05 Dec 2014 14:12
22 December marks the centenary of the death of Maj.-Gen. Robert Charles Boileau Pemberton (1834-1914), the compiler of the 40 charts in this book, ed. and pub. by his son, the rev. Robert Pemberton, in 1923.
He established the origins of the name in Lancashire in the 13th century, and the book includes pedigrees of families in England, Boston (USA), Philadelphia and New Zealand. Copies are held by Lancashire Archives, Birmingham Public Libraries, the Libraries of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and the SoG.
In his preface, rev. Robert expressed the hope that someone would come forward to continue the work of editing the research notes left by his father, with a view to preparing more pedigrees for publication and perhaps linking them back to "the original Lancashire stock".
This seems never to have happened and the Pemberton Family Worldwide (pfww.org) is therefore attempting to continue this work.
May I ask descendants of the families, in particular those of the Major-General's, and anyone knowing the whereabouts of his research notes to contact me, either through the forum or directly at pembie2[at]hotmail.com Thank you.
