No Poplar baptisms recorded in either Old Parish registers or Catholic records on Scotlandspeople site between 1770 and 1800.

Where did Esther's surname come from? A number of trees on Ancestry have her surname as Boyn. Do you have John and Esther's marriage?

No I am still looking for it , On her Daughter Sarah Ann's 2nd Marriage in Manhattan New York 28th Feb. 1870 she gave her mothers Maiden name as Esther Poplar definitely her daughter as she gave her name as Sarah Ann Trevaskiss Church on her marriage to Frederick Williams I have been following the Boyn line and then the Poplar came up and I thought the Boyn could have been Esther's paternal line

I have been told there are plenty of families in Scotland with the name Poplar or similar
