There are quite a number of links we've collected together here https://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ ... 14&t=15307

A lot in Australia seems to be different sites for different areas, which is a bit confusing to us who are used to a central database for BMD's and such like.

My suggestion would be to try and get a two week free trial for Findmypast and hit it hard with as many searches as you can while you have it, PS if they say you have already had one, create a new email address, say with gmail or hotmail and try again with a different debit/credit card.

Thanks Mary will give it a go....the family think that the Threlfalls originate from Liverpool and the Finnerans from Ireland originally.

Thanks again Ann

Does your local library have either Ancestry or FMP or both? If they do why not have a play around there and see what you can find. When I want overseas info I go up to the library to access the World version of Ancestry.

Hi ..I only have James Edward Threlfall born c1921 ...he had a brother Douglas..born so the family think in Sydney
We know James married Mary in the late thirties.

Mary Finneran born c1920 she had sisters Madeline and Nancy again in Sydney

However I have found a reference on FMP of a James Edward Threllfall marriage to C Mary Finneran c 1937 in Victoria which by Australian miles is just down the road

We have just returned from Aus and my son is quite excited that his Aussie wife maybe has Liverpool in her genes

My concern is that some of the above people might possibly be still living ..if this is the case then I know I can't persue it any further

Thank you in anticipation Ann :)

Hi Daisycakes, struggling to find much info. All I can find is James Edward Threlfall marrying Mary Finneran in Ryde, NSW in 1940.

FreeBMD have 2 James Threlfalls registered in 1921, one in Jun quarter West Derby with mother as Faulkner, the other in Dec quarter Prescot to mother Smith.

No trace of a birth in Australia of Douglas Threlfall, but there is a marriage record of a George Douglas Threlfall marrying Thelma Joyce Worpel in Mayfield NSW in 1937.

I can't find birth records of Madeline or Nancy in Australia either, and no trace on FreeBMD or irishgenealogy.ie either.
There are 3 birth entries for Mary Finneran, two in 1917 in Athlone and one in 1925 in Glennamady. Don't know if any of these are yours.

Hi ...I think James and Mary marriage is right ....also I may be able to check though it's not certain on the George Douglas marriage through the family ..if it's right then I can go forward or backwards

James and Mary were my daughter in laws grandparents and she knows little about them ...I think my next step will be to check immigration records to ascertain if the Threlfall boys did emigrate ...the plot thickens .

Thank you so much for your help

Ann :)
