I've just received a copy of the 1868 death cert. of my ancester Fanny Irving.

She died aged 71, and the cause of death is given as "Disease of Heart and Kidneys". I'm wondering how this condition would be described in today's medical terms ... please does anyone have any ideas/suggestions :?:

Bestest,
Paula.

I am not definite on this but it sounds like she died of complications of diabetes as the kidneys would have been over worked by the sugar buildup and eventually the heart would have failed..it was known at that time as sweet blood disorder..... there was no cure for it so they just waited untill the kidneys failed and it was just a matter of time.....my g grandfather died this way.

Aha ... perhaps so, thanks Susan.
Cert. also says " some years certified", so that would fit in with diabetes.
