Free online books including Royalist Composition Papers (a collection of cases brought concerning Royalists and/or Catholics who had land taken off them in the 1640s). I was interested in a Margaret Brookefield of Knowsley (I have Brookfield Recusant ancestors). "Being a papist" she had two thirds of her land sequestered. This was confirmed by documents showing that, "the premises in question were in the year 1643 sequestrated for the recusancy of the said Margaret Brookefield." Margaret died in 1652 and was buried at St Michael's in Huyton.
