Hi all
I usually have a look on here once a day and just check the new posts. Even if they are not relevant to me. The help given on this site is unbelievable, and the clues it gives me by looking through other peoples questions, and the responses, are great. Being a Manc, we seem to have a sort of love/hate relationship with Liverpool, but i think youre brilliant.
Thanks Ian. There's probably a lot of us on here with some roots around the Manchester area and even Gary Neville has some Liverpool roots so that old rivalry looks daft when you get interested in family history.
It's lovely to hear that. I think we find that many of our ancestors have travelled between the two towns, well we were all Lancashire back in the day weren't we? As Blue says, we all have the same interests and appreciate all help that comes out way, and we do have a friendly relationship with another forum based in your area.

Thank you Ian for lovely post and compliments to the Forum.
Yes, there will always be rivalry between Manc's and the Scousers, good stuff though!
My scouse gran moved to Patricroft, happy memories for me, travelling to visit on the
train, walking over the canal bridge & seeing the painted barges.
Back on the train home with an armful of flowers and of course her apple pie

Ah.... Manchester memories! On embarkation leave, hitching, in Army uniform of course, with my best Army mate, from Liverpool up to Manchester to listen to the Manchester Saints Jazz band somewhere in Deansgate with a pint in hand. A brilliant band of the time. I still have several of their records.
Then kiss the girls goodnight and hitch back to best mate's mother's house in Everton, down the East Lancs often on the back of a milk lorry, at 5 in the morning!
