Hi Mary
Went to records office this morning with mum who is 73. We where looking for a burial record for her still born brother in 1952, you may remember my previous post. In addition we were looking for her grandmother who died in 1922, who apart from 1911 census and death certificate, we cannot find.
Good news, if you can call it that is that we located the burial record for mums baby brother, buried in a public grave, and although the receipt for burial shows,
Coffin, especially made. With Fitments
Swansdown Catholic Burial gown
Silk and Swansdown interior.
Limousine
Grave at Anfield cemetery.
The records show, public grave and no ceremony, how sad, Grandma and Grandad must have paid all they could, but could not afford any more as they had five other children. Went to Anfield after taking mum home, and found the section. Although I knew there would be not headstone, found the section to be the one, that has just had all the Headstones laid flat for H&S reasons, which I fully understand. It was just a sad situation.
Now to the good news, I am off in the near future, to Records Office and to Sandhill's, as with the excellent help of the staff at the Records office( will post a seperate Post to them), the other records are there.
Totally enjoyed my 2 hours, would have stayed longer if I could. TIP - go when the weather is like today so quiet
Will give more notice next time, for anyone who want's a look up at either office
regards
Michelle
