Arthur (not the rat) Oubridge
Oh yes, that sounds great, I'm sure we'd all love to read your account, you could also incorporate hints as to where you looked for the answers, that's also very interesting to many of the readers who are sometimes at a loss over where to look for themselves.

Re: Arthur (not the rat) Oubridge
Hi Barbara,
I just read your comment about Arthur's nephew Dinsdale. Yes indeed he had a nephew called Dinsdale John Arthur Oubridge, was was born in 1900 in Nottingham, about six months before his uncle Arthur was killed in South Africa. The "Arthur" middle name was probably from his uncle. Dinsdale was an RAF cadet at the end of WW1 (cadet number 183482) and died on 8th February 1919 in Nottingham, aged 18 and unmarried. He is commemorated on the CWGC website.
Incidentally, one of Arthur's brothers (Henry Oubridge) also served in the Boer War - he was a trooper in the Manchester Imperial Yeomanry (77 Company, 8 battalion Imperial Yeomanry, soldier number 15865).
Best Regards,
Gareth Oubridge

Hi Gareth, nice to hear from you. Thanks for the additional background to Dinsdale and Henry. Coincidentally I'll be in Southport again this week so will probably raise a glass to Arthur!
Cheers
