My latest research project is William Edgar Kewley who was born on the 30 September 1895, the son of William and Bertha Kewley. He was Baptised on the 17 November 1895 at St Benedicts Church, Everton.
William (jnr.) enlisted in the 9th Btn KLR on 14th July 1914 and proceeded to France with his Battalion in March 1915. He was wounded in the hand on 24th April 1915 and treated in various CCS and hospitals before rejoining his Battalion on the 25 May 1915.
On 31 March 1916, he received further wounds which unfortunately proved fatal; William died on the 16 April 1916 and was buried at LE TREPORT MILITARY CEMETERY.

I have a couple of photos of William which I will try to post over the weekend.
Does anyone know if his name appears on any local war memorial?
I have his service papers etc.

Thank you for that. He is recorded on the memorial; do you know where it is located?
Many thanks

Hi Mark
There is also a Private William Kewley South Lancs 3rd Battalion who died 11/6/1915 at Seaforth and is buried in Bootle Cemetery. His Father was William and his step-mother was Bertha Jones. He was born 1886 in Birkenhead and Father and Stepmother married 1891-1895 at St Catherines Tranmere. In 1911 parents living in Seaforth and William enlisted in Seaforth and his brother John Henry Kewley also died in 1918 and his address was Wharton Terrace, Bootle. I have not found any mention of working in Bibby's in Bootle but it is a possibility as it is not a common name although the memorial does say W.E.Kewley. Bootle Times does state on the obituary for John Henry that he is the 3rd of 6 soldier brothers to give his life. The other brother is James of the York and Lancs also living in Seaforth.
