I have the Medal Card details for a Private John Griffiths Regimental No 4382/266663 who was wounded in July/August 1917.

I have also come across a Private Edward Hancock Regimental no 4372/266660 7th Battalion King's Liverpool Regiment attached to the Royal Engineers killed 20th June 1917. My query is would Private John Griffiths have belonged to the same battalion?

The chances are that they were both in the 7th Battalion but I think you would have to see the service papers for Griffiths to be sure.
There are some KLR casualty reports in the Maritime Museum Archives which might help, but you probably know that.

Thanks Daggers. I am staying home to-day so I will scan those Allerton details for you. One report was of a buriel for a seaman and the Roman Catholic Priest refused to carry out the service until a specific time. This resulted in the Coffin having to be stored in the church, the family had to go home and the Navy guys had to hang around Allerton for several hours until the priest came back to conduct the service.

Katie,

Both men were indeed 1/7 KLR and both enlisted 27/5/15
