For the Military Buffs. If a soldier had a Gold Leaf Badge would this have been for "Mentioned in dispatches" Joseph Thomas Clucas had one of these with his other medals any idea's

Yes.
Wikipedia says:
From 1920 to 1993, the decoration consisted of a single bronze oakleaf, and in the Canadian Forces still does. Even if the soldier is mentioned in despatches more than once, only a single such decoration is worn. In Britain, since 1993, the decoration is a single silver oakleaf. In each case the decoration is pinned or sewn diagonally on to the appropriate campaign medal ribbon. If no campaign medal is awarded, the oak leaf is worn on the left breast of the dress uniform.

Thanks Daggers. If he was mentioned in disptaches would it have been Gazetted? This soldier was Killed in Action 1917. I have searched the Gazette nothing coming up for him.

Usually gazetted, but I would never say 'always'. The LG search is notoriously tricky. Sometimes it will respond with only a number, other times ignores numbers. Try with and without spaces after initials. Better chance with a rare name, of course!
A citation is unlikely in LG, just a list of names. Sometimes more details can be traced in Brigade or higher records, which involves Kew visits. If the man served in a local Territorial unit there is a chance of finding something in the Jeudwine papers at Lpool RO. Maj-Gen J. commanded the 55th West Lancs Division and we are lucky to have his personal papers there.

Corporal Joseph Thomas Clucas killed in action 1917 he was with the R.F.A

I note he served with 57 Div Ammunition Column. I have a small booklet somewhere and will see if he is mentioned.

I have looked through the booklet. 696216 Cpl J T Clucas is recorded as being.killed in action. There is no record of his mid.
