Hi, Can any member help regarding details on a birth certificate have. The father on the certificate is a ROBERT JENNINGS a Lance corporal in the 9th Kings Liverpool Regiment. Robert was born abt 1889 and married a Catherine BURNS at Christ Church Kensington,in Liverpool on the 27th September 1914. I have tried without any sucssess to trace him in census details so I applied for the birth certificate of his first son John French JENNINGS born the 7th November 1915, with address show as 15 Dee Street Liverpool . The details of the father are as I mentioned a soldier in the Kings Liverpool Regiment. I am interested in finding his army records, I have a medal index card for him and the regiment number on this is 12777. If anybody can help with information on a data base I would be most grateful.

To help with search details for censuses, the information from the marriage certificate is:
27 September 1914 Christ Church, Kensington
Robert Jennings 25 Bachelor Brass Polisher 6 Kensington Terrace
Father Robert Jennings (deceased) Tin Smith
Catherine Burns 25 Spinster 6 Kensington Terrace
Father Matthews Burns (deceased) Mariner
Both signed their names
Witnesses - Joseph Tomkinson and Catherine Alice Tunniecliffe

Both having the same address may suggest that one of them didn't live in the parish.

He is not appearing among my lists of wounded/P.O.W which start at 1st-July-1916 to 30th Aug-1917 etc. Ken Lees is the man for the 9th King's.

Do you have a subscription to Ancestry? The Pension Records for your Robert Jennings are on there, birth parish Bow, London, Regimental Number K12777 The Dragoons.

He attested on 31.8.14 and was discharged as no longer physically fit for Wartime? 24.12.16.

If this is your soldier apparently he died on 24.1.1919.

Please confirm if this death is correct and send me your email address in a private message. Too many images and personal health details on the record to post on here.

Ah well, we have a bit of a predicament. Johno has replied to me as follows:

Robert Jennings had his last child in 1922 so I think it may be the incorrect soldier you mention in 1919. The wedding is the correct one, I have the medal index card but I dont understand the comments on it. I looked on the Kings web site and put in the name and his rank. and it came back his reg number 12777.

Maybe we have the incorrect Robert Jennings with this Regiment Number. Any thoughts anybody?

The soldier MaryA found with the number 12777 is the same person as the medal card of that number which you have found however you state that your Robert Jennings was a Lancs Corporal the man with the number 12777 is a private according to the medal card.

Private 12777 Jennings died I think, in Walton institution and was buried from there on 30 Jan 1919 at Walton Park cemetery.

I don't think this is your Robert Jennings. On the birth certificate of the child does it give a regimental number for your Robert? If the certificate does give the number 12777 there has to be some funny business going on!!!

The registration for Robert Jennings who dies in 1919 is March Q West Derby Reg District volume 8b page 606.

PS there appears to be no mention of wife or child on pension record for Robert Jennings 12777

Johno was going to post the Medal Card, but I think before we go down that line we need to ascertain whether or not it is the correct Robert Jennings. The following was received from him.

The only evidence is that I have his rank and regiment on the birth certificate of his son John, with this I visited the web page of the Kings and searched with those details and I recieved a match with his reg number as 12777.

I would be happy if Johno posted the exact wording from the birth certificate of son John please.
