Liverpool Pals Memorial Fund: march on 1st Sept
Posted: 28 Aug 2012 14:09
I have had the following from the secretary of the Memorial Fund
On 1st September 2012 we will be reenacting a march which the men of the 17th Battalion, the Liverpool Pals made from Prescot to St Georges Hall, Liverpool. This march is to raise funds for a memorial to the gallant men who left their homes and families to fight for our country.
The march sets off from Scotchbarn Lane, Prescot at appx 09.30 and will march towards St Georges Hall via East Prescot Road, Old Swan, London Road, onto St Georges Hall plateau. The expected arrival time is between 12-13:00. We currently have appx 20-25 men who will march in full WWI uniform and we hope to have an original WW1 vehicle too. We want a many people to know about this and support it in any way you can. Those who are on the Great War Forum may wish to notify others in the forums. If you can tell friends or colleagues about this we would be grateful.
The organisers hope for support and would love to see as many as possible in some kind of Victorian or Edwardian costume.
We are hoping for media coverage of the day but would welcome as many of you who can attend at St George's plateau to lend your support.
Any donation, large or small, can be made to the Liverpool Pals Memorial Fund, sort code 30-65-62, account no. 17234168.
